Steps to Becoming a Certified Lacrosse Official
There SGLOA will be at your side as we assist you with the steps that you will need to take to referee lacrosse games as a certified lacrosse official. Several steps are administrative in nature, while others require your active participation to acquire the skills, knowledge and techniques to effectively officiate a lacrosse game. We highly recommend you begin the process in the fall in order to officiate in the following spring.
Step 1 - Contact the SGLOA
Use the SGLOA New Official Interest Form to express your interest and provide us with your name and email address. We will add you to our membership list and alert you to our upcoming meetings, training sessions, and other SGLOA related business and news.
Step 2 - Register with Florida High School Athletic Association
The FHSAA promotes, directs, supervises and regulates interscholastic athletic programs in which Florida high school students, whose schools are members, compete. All officials must register with FHSAA and pass an online Rules Examination on an annual basis. Click here to visit and begin the process to become an FHSAA Official.
Step 3 - Become a Member of USA Lacrosse
USA Lacrosse is the governing body of the sport in the United States. Players, coaches, and officials register with the organization for many benefits. USA Lacrosse provides tremendous training resources for lacrosse officials at every level of the game.
